Location is superb for a stay in Oia. You’re very close to the hustle and bustle of the main part of the town, but also have privacy with your room. We stayed in the Kimolos suite and it was brilliant, plenty of space indoors and out, lovely hot tub and a stellar view of the Caldera. Additionally we had the sun on our balcony area until 6:30-7:00pm, which in May which was ideal.
The staff were incredibly helpful too. They had great suggestions for restaurants (and where to avoid), were super responsive on WhatsApp, and helped in arranging our transfers throughout the week to Santo Wines and our Catamaran Tour.

Great location, beautiful sights.
Great location, beautiful sights. Be prepared to walk and use the stairs a lot. Can cover it all in 2-3 days, so can make it a long weekend. Once tourist season starts, it'll get very crowded though - so May or September/Oct ideal.

We traveled to Oia in the end of April, which is just the beginning of their high season. The weather was cool, a bit breezy, and always nice and warm in the afternoons. The traffic was slowed at times because the streets are narrow, and there is not a lot of parking. Because of the steep cliff side dwellings, there was a lot of walking up/down steps which were uneven. Someone with physical difficulty would not easily navigate the steps. All the shop and restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The view from anywhere in Oia is magnificent. Oia is a place on earth that is a “must see,” and now we can cross it off our bucket list.

Oia is a uniquely beautiful place. The views in all directions are stunning, particularly at sunset but any time really. The overall impression of white and blue buildings is magical. The local people were very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay in Oia.

Our decision to disembark at Oia Santorini was extempore at the end of our 7 day Greek Island cruise. It was mid March and just perfect in terms of weather and crowd. I went out for morning walks and I had the entire strip for myself. The weather was in 60s and 70s. No rain except for the last day. It was interesting to see the whole town getting ready for Spring and Summer. They were white washing walls and getting their commercial spaces ready.
Very few places have impressed me with the esthetic beauty like this. The nature and the man-made structures compete for the attention and they co-exist. The beauty is stunning and it takes 48 hours to stop taking photographs everywhere you go.
We stayed in Oia for six days. It was a long 3 days weekend and for Ash Monday. Only on one of these 6 days, we saw some crowds at the Sunset point and it wasn't pleasant. Many restaurants were open. Restaurants on the main strip are expensive for eating out every day. You can explore the off beaten paths to find hidden gems that that charge you non-tourist rates.. You can also shop at the local grocery store and eat selectively at restaurants.
If you don't like crowds and waiting in the lines, I highly recommend visiting in March and November. I heard stories from locals that the Summer has been very crowded in the past few years. The cruise ships have made the matters worse.
Here are some recommendations.
Restaurants: Candouni - Must try for dining,
Cafe popular with locals. Piatsa Souvlaki. Excellent food.
Skiza cafe.- Pizza, Sandwiches, Ice cream.
Morning coffee and snacks. : Passaris bakery

Because we went slightly off season, the beginning of October, we enjoyed less tourists. I cannot imagine July/August heat and crowds. We did a sunset catamaran cruise, really recommend that, for a once in a lifetime day trip. Lots of great restaurants around and lots of scams so be careful. Cabs are expensive, so ask up front. Buses take forever and minibuses drop you off any old where......If you book a lovely hotel with transportation included you'll be fine. Ammoudi beach is a great sunset spot with yummy food......
The location was excellent. The view from the room was stunning. We had originally booked the myst boutique hotel and we were sorely disappointed with the noise levels and the extremely bad view from the room which was of the main road. We had no choice but to look for alternative accommodation. So we were so lucky that there was availability with the stunning Oia Mare. It made us have such a wonderful experience in santorini. The staff were really accommodating and we will definitely be booking here the next time we come 😊
The room exceeded my expectations - was much nicer than the photos on booking.com. Santorini is normally quite pricey so I think I got a good deal with this one! Location wise, it's situated close enough to Oia that you need only walk about 10 minutes to get right in the centre. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the manager of the hotel was extremely helpful. She sat down with me when I checked in to show me the map of Santorini and to tell me where to go and at what times of the day. Was very hospitable.
Great location.. the edge of Oia, Santorini. Perfect to view the Caldera sunsets!!
Very clean and well maintained. And excellent service by the team..
A la carte breakfast served to the portico of the rooms, overlooking the sea.. was amazing..
They helped with carrying luggage up to our rooms from the parking lot 200 mts from the hotel..
All the rooms have a gorgeous view.. restaurant set by a common infiniti pool.. offered great drinks.. and a greek menu.. very well presented.. very stylish..
This is in a really pretty area of Santorini that is a short 10 minute walk to the busy Oia. Really liked that is wasn’t as busy, there are some lovely restaurants really close by as well. The owner of this hotel is so nice, she arranged all our transfers and was waiting for us at the bus stop. The rooms themselves are done out to a very high standard, we loved staying in a little cave house. We had our own private terrace and hot tub that made it feel extra special. Will definitely return
If you are looking for perfection including in all the small details, you have to book this hotel. The location is the best, with the greatest view, food is amazing, service is exceptional, rooms (we stayed at the windmill) are luxurious and beautiful. The manager of the hotel is so friendly and kind and making this whole experience amazing. Santorini is an amazing island but if you’d like to step it up- this is the hotel!!
Olympic Villas is the perfect location to explore Santorini. Breathtaking view. Having been to Oia before, the view, the pool, and the calmness of this hotel are second to none.. a very special place. Relaxing by the pool, then a 5 minute walk to shops, restaurants, and everything Oia has to offer, couldn't have been any better. We have travelled all over the world. Olympic Villas is a place in our hearts. You must visit.
The service in this hotel is super amazing and the staff is very enthusiastic and always helpful. They explained about the whole Santorini island very clearly at the very beginning and that was so helpful. About the suite, it was very clean, bright, and organized. I love the suite and the private hot tube. Also, the breakfast was amazing! This hotel is top 1 during my whole journey. Highly recommend to stay here!
-private location with a great sunset view. we had a nice surprise of being offered Santorini red wine and water melon at sunset time.
- the front desk lady is very helpful. when we arrived, she took time to give us an overview of the island including places to see, restaurants and Greek food. she also offered us late check out and contacted our next hotel for a seamless transfer of our luggage!
A fabulous hotel in a great location close to restaurants and local transport links. About a 5 minute walk to the castle where you can see the legendary sunset.
A lot of steps in Santorini and the walk down to the hotel is no exception. It is built on the side of a cliff, like most of the hotels in Oia. But the views of the caldera are completely worth it!!
Completely recommend it.
Wonderful staff, they go beyond any level of service to fulfill your needs, Irina, Nicholas and Ali, who takes care of your luggage so you forget the stairs, are always available with a smile to mejor you feel welcome and to make sure you enjoy the stay, the hotel offer 180 degrees of caldera view and the size of the room is bigger than the standard in Santorini
Stayed here to get married and honeymoon. Room was exceptional and the service from Ned was the best we received in all 12 days across all of Greece. He helped us find additional tours, rental car, & sites to see. I can’t imagine any better hotel in all of Santorini. Ned made us feel like we showed up as tourists and left as friends. We hope to come back!
Oia Waves is very near the Santorini beach. The place was perfect; it was big and the facilities were working. Johnny (Johnns), the hotel staff was kind and very helpful. We were amazed how he could carry 3 heavy luggages from our airbnb all the way to the top of Oia. If we were to go back to Santorini, we will get this place again.
Great location, quite but next to the main street. Great sunset view in a private front yard. Large two-bedrooms apartment. Super friendly owner met you at the shuttle and a porter carried luggages to your room, vary convenient and easy. Price is very reasonable in super expensive Santorini and this hotel offers an unbeatable value.
The hotel is located at Oia one the best places in Santorini. Beautiful view from the suits. Walking distance to restaurants and square. Easy access to taxies. Suites were extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We were there to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. We had a wonderful celebration and holiday.
The best hotel ever, in santorini! It’s quiet and you can enjoy your stay, also it is very close to Oia (2 minutes by car or 10 minutes by foot). The private pool is amazing, the suite is absolutely perfect so we would have wanted to stay in the hotel the whole stay ! Breakfast was very very good also, a lot of choices!
Just came from vacations at Santorini. Filotera Hotel is excellent in all aspects. It's clean with fabulous food and the best views in Oia. Daily breakfast in your private balcony are fantastic. The managers and the whole staff are dedicated to give you the best experience.
The location of the property could not be better. The views are probably some of the best in Santorini, ocean views from the pools, restaurant and most of the rooms. ALSO, you CAN see the sunset from the hotel when most hotels in Oia cannot!!
Piscine was excellent! Santorini doesn't have good beaches so we enjoyed the piscine very much!the area was very very quiet. near imerovigli and oia by car or feet if you dare!! august is hot in Greece
