We recently had the pleasure of staying in this charming rock cottage nestled in a nature reserve in Tulbagh, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The cottage itself was cozy and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
What truly stood out was the serene and tranquil setting. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the reserve, we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The cottage provided the perfect base for exploring the stunning landscapes and observing the local wildlife.
Overall, our stay in this delightful rock cottage was a memorable escape into nature. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty and quiet of Tulbagh's natural surroundings.

Oude Compagnies Post is outstanding and the cherry on the cake. Definitely the highlight of our visit to Tulbagh, excellent wine and a knowledgeable, educated and well informed host. Not to be missed.
Daphne is also highly recommended as our restaurant of choice.
A beautiful hiking route with a swimming pool, which is shallow enough for non swimmers is also available on Oude Compagnies Post.

We arrived on Good Friday of the Easter weekend and settled into our accommodation at Eikelaan Farm Cottages. Saturday was spent getting to know the history of Tulbagh at the Earthquake museum, old church & cemetery, and wandering down Church street admiring the restored old buildings. Rijk’s Wine estate just outside of town for lunch, and Daphne’s for dinner. Sunday we enjoyed lunch at The Tulbagh Boutique Hotel at their Olive Bistro restaurant. Great food & wine.

We loved the wine farms and visited several. The Valentine's Day dinner at Manley wine estate was excellent and the Tulbagh Hotel dinner was very good.
The museums in the historic street are really interesting
It is an easy area to get around, albeit always by car.
We would avoid staying in such rustic accommodation and choose a wine farm instead

Could have stayed for a week instead of a weekend. Fabulous staff at the Cape Dutch Quarter Hotel, such an eclectic mix of Georgian & old Cape Dutch buildings .....all connected by peaceful gardens & even a lovely pool. Our room was self catering but with so many great eateries/vineyards we didn't bother cooking ourselves!!!! Highly recommend

We expected to browse around small shops, but there were none. The most exciting shop was a Second hand store. Beautiful buildings, but that's about it. We went on a Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe weekends are better? Went to Saronsberg Winery, which was lovely. Perhaps to venture outside Tulbach is the way to go.

There are a lot to do in and around Tulbagh.
There are a lot to do in and around Tulbagh. There is a variety of restaurant offerings and a rich heritage in the town that is celebrated. The Tulbagh Hotel is great for staying or to grab something to eat.
We LOVED hearing all the birds and farm animals in the neighberhood. It was not bothersome but added to the feeling of peacefulness and calm. Our cottage entered from the back which means the patio was private and not visible from the road. Every single possible need for a nights' stay was catered for. We were more than pleasently surprised. The owners were very friendly and helpful and honestly we feel this is value for money. Squeeky clean! Super linen - thank you SO much! We will definately be back!
The location was perfect - situated between two of the major wine farms in Tulbagh - Saronsberg and Montpelier.
The property was fenced, which is a must when traveling with our furry friend.
The house was warm and welcoming - it's not a 5 star hotel but more like coming home to the warm embrace of family.
The cottage is surrounded by the Wittenberg mountains.
We were greeted by Nadine - the horse that freely roams the property. She is lovely, remember to take an apple or a carrot for her ;).
Breakfast was excellent. You are given a choice of breakfast from eggs / bacon benedict, breakfast pizza, or full English breakfast. You also receive a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and a granola yogurt.
Accommodation was excellent, clean shower, AC, comfortable bed and a gorgeous swimming pool with braai facilities awaited us. Centrally located and less than 3kkms from all the popular wine farms. Also enjoyed an excellent wine tasting from the knowledgeable Stephan.
The accommodations are set in a lovely wine estate outside of Tulbagh. It was off the road, so quiet, with room to roam the grape vines, and walk around. We were near a lovely swimming pool, but didn’t swim as the weather was cool. Included in our accommodation was a wonderful breakfast, with great options, beautifully presented.
A wine tasting was available in the mid-afternoon.
Location was absolutely breathtaking! The room was fully equipped with cooking utensils, everything needed for a braai (matches, firelighters, wood and a grid), they accommodated for loadshedding, wifi was working well, the room and bathroom was beautiful! Had a lovely stay and would recommend it to everyone passing through Tulbagh.
The cottages are roomy, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the farm life feel is great for the kids and dogs. The fireplace kept us warm on a wet Saturday night. Beds are big and comfortable. It's far enough from town to feel like you are on the farm, and close enough to still enjoy the wine farms and the beauty of Tulbagh :)
Facilities were self catering and therefore no breakfast was served. The location was perfect for us as it was very central to the places / areas we wanted to visit in the Tulbagh and surrounding areas. Really enjoyed swimming in the dam in the middle of a heat wave that hit the cape winelands.
The receptionist, Mrs Rhoode, is the friendliest little lady ever!! She persuaded us to rather eat our dinner at the hotel's restaurant and we were extremely please we did. The best food, the best service. If you ever happen to travel through Tulbagh this is your stop. Fantastic experience.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Well equipped facilities. Everything you need. Spacious rooms. Very comfortable and clean linen. Secured. On a working farm. Surrounded by nature at its best. A place where you can relax.
Fantastic location in the picturesque Tulbagh. Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable bedroom and in-room facilities. Lovely breakfast. Emergency light provided.
Tranquility and just having peaceful time in farms by the mountains. The rooms are spacious with classic furniture as a theme. The place is in general beautiful and what we were looking for.
The location on a wine farm surrounded by mountains. Vineyards and a beautiful succulent garden. Best breakfast omelette ever. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests.
We booked because it was pet friendly and in tulbagh with a pool. There was indeed a pool but it was not suitable for swimming it was murky green and dirty.
